New Song: Beyoncé – ‘Be Alive’ [from the ‘King Richard’ Soundtrack]

Published: Friday 12th Nov 2021 by Rashad

Just a week ahead of the premiere of one of the year’s most highly anticipated films, the Will Smith-led ‘King Richard,’ music megastar Beyoncé has unveiled her equally anticipated contribution to its soundtrack.

Titled ‘Be Alive,’ anthemic track – penned by Bey and DIXSON – acts as the standout cut from the movie’s musical companion album and sees the songstress show off her vocal prowess over orchestra-laden accompaniment.

“It feels so good to be alive / Got all my sisters by my side / Couldn’t wipe this black off if I tried (Black off if I tried)
That’s why I lift my head with pridе / Now we’re sitting on top of the world again,” she belts on the soaring number.

Ahead of the November 19 theatrical arrival of ‘King’ (the story about the rise of tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams), hop inside to hear ‘Alive.’

I wanted to like this so bad. The harmonies sound beautiful but ultimately it feels like something is missing. The song feels empty and hollow. Beyoncé’s vocals are beautiful as always but I’m left feeling underwhelmed.
The song in the trailer sounds better than the actual song.
Hoping she still gets an Oscar nom and even a win.

      Agreed

The vocals are sublime. Powerful, resonant belts and the runs are well placed and intricate. As for the song itself however…..im underwhelmed. The trailer versions sounds moving, epic and Oscar worthy. However it seems Beys opted to release what she perceives to be a more radio friendly cut. However this production reduces the impact. It doesn’t complement and enhance the impact of lyrical content as much and leaves it sounding rather flat.

I’m sorry Bey….. this was very boring. Felt like Spirit…. No movement. I love you

Lord, help us, she’s back with her Out of tune bass
Looking like someone shocked her vocal chords!
You think that’s bad? You should hear the rest of her albums! Never has been such an overrated disaster!

Somebody paid for his write up. Sang her “face off”? 😐

When last did beyonce release a good song?

Her music is so bad lately.
    This girl needs her father.

    Spirit was better than this.

Exactly. She has no ear for music what so ever😞

It falls flat like a crepe.
It starts well, nice vocals, harmonies and background vocals.
    But there’s zero progression.
There could have been a key change with bigger vocals.
And during the instrumental part towards the end, change it up, add an electric guitar solo or something.
    Kind of a let down…

Bunch of yelling n dated runs. More creative writing would help too

Yelling? Come on. A lil objectivity. The vocals cant be faulted on a technical level. But if you just dont like her style of singing thats subjective and youre completely entitled to have that opinion.

The unfortunate majority of commenters on this site have no idea what objectivity means.

TRASH. But i’m not surprised. I can see why she turned off the comments on her IG page lmao.

I don’t want her to back-door her way into an Oscar with a “co-songwriting” credit when we all know she doesn’t contribute anything significant. The Oscars took her name off the nomination for Listen because the song was already written before she added got her hands on it. The Oscars also limits the number of writers per song, so none of this 10 writers and 15 producers on one song like everyone does these days.

The vocals on this are everything. Her voice sounds so buttery smooth. I can get the critique though. She started so strong out of the gate that there wasn’t a build up.

Powerful song message wise; also easily one of her best vocal performances. She pushed herself vocally at some points in the song, love the result.
